Arguably the most coveted of all the jewel orchids, Macodes sanderiana is a stunning foliage plant. The leaves have crystalline and sparkly veins that look like gold flecks of lightening bolts have been threaded into them.  These amazing Jewel Orchids first described by John Lindley in 1840 are native to Java, Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo, Philippines and the southern islands of Ryukyu. They can be found growing in swampy forests, lowland forests and on mossy rocks, in forests where the dry season is not very long and the humidity is high.
